BrainPaws uses a simple rules-based system, not a model. The same principles teachers have used for decades. Here is exactly how it works:

Difficulty adjusts on every answer. Answer fast and correctly and the next one gets a little harder. Hesitate or miss and it eases up. It adapts from the first card.
Missed facts come back sooner. Each fact has a score that goes up on a correct answer and down on a miss. Low-score facts show up more often until she gets them.
Practice ends on a win. If a session is going badly, it quietly gets shorter and always ends on a correct answer. Kids are more likely to come back tomorrow if today ended well.
There is a gentle daily limit. Once she has done a healthy amount of practice, the app says so and suggests a break. Short sessions most days beat one long session a week.

Adding, subtracting, times tables and division

Each kid gets their own profile with a grade preset. There are optional hints for tricky strategies like make-ten, doubles, and the times-9 trick. A PIN keeps kids out of each other's progress. Designed for kindergarten through 2nd grade and growing with them.
